Have you tried our Rock Climbing Experience day already? Or maybe you just want to start your climbing life by learning straight away the basic skills needed to follow - or 'second' - a more experienced friend.

Our Introduction To Rock Climbing course will leave you with the necessary skills to be a competent 'second' in a climbing pair. No prior climbing experience is necessary.

  • Introduction to equipment

  • Attaching to the rope

  • Introduction to climbing calls

  • Movement skills

  • Introduction to belaying & the belay system

  • Introduction to lead belaying

  • Roles of the 'second' in a climbing pair

  • Safety in the mountains & weather

What's included:

  • Fully qualified and experienced Rock Climbing Instructors to guide you on amazing rock climbs

  • Comfortable climbing harness (not the centre type ones with no padding)

What to bring:

  • A completed Health Declaration & Registration Form - see footer of page for link

  • Good hiking boots that are well broken in

  • Map and compass if you have them

  • A rucksack with waterproof liner

  • Head torch with spare batteries

  • Emergency bivvy

  • Fully charged mobile

  • Water proof jacket and trousers

  • Lots of light top layers

  • Hat and gloves 

  • Lunch and water
